My favourite port is the Port of Liverpool. For me it has everything:
history, fantastic architecture, like the two cathedrals which
couldn't be more different than each other and a waterfront that
rivals any in the world. Lots of museums and gallery's and for ship
lovers the Maritime Museum is probably the best in the world. The city
is probably the least English of any in Britain and the people are
about the freindliest in the British Isles then throw in the Beatles
stuff and you have everything.

My second favourite is Shanghai, which strangely enough, when looking
towards the Bund, looks like a mirror image of Liverpool.

Hi Sloyne,

I believe we cruised together some years back as I recall you were so in
love with Liverpool as a port. Even though those days have passed, I
understand your views. I was always impressed with the tidal arrangement
there and it must be some job to keep the channel and port dredged
adequately. Are you still writing your reviews for the marine historical
society?

Aloha

Is this Henry of 'Regal Princess' fame?

Not to mention the docks and lock systems, more impressive than the
Panama canal I think.

Yes, and when you consider that they handle some of the worlds largest
tankers, it is even more amazing. But I believe they, Port of
Liverpool, only have two dredgers for this job.

Yes, periodicly.

PS: I tried to contact you when you passed through Toronto. I also
tried last December when I was cruising aboard 'Norwegian Wind'
(Hawaiian Islands, Fanning Island cruise).
