I've seen some postings on Adult Drink Cards on RCCL. Does anyone have the
latest?

If it's like Carnival, it's $35 and absolutely not worth it. The drinks are
served in smallish glasses (no cans, no bottles) and it seems that the drink
waiters are not encouraged to see to it that your glass is kept full if they
know you have a card. You are better off just buying drinks in bottles as
you want them...or bring some pop on board.

On our last two Carnival cruises we did not encounter this. The drinks were
poured from cans or bottles in fact, and refills were cheerfully given.

I don't disagree.

All I said was that you were given the pop in a small glass (no can or
bottle was given to you even though it was poured from same) half-filled
with ice and after a few swallows it was gone and you had to flag down the
drink waiter again or head back to the bar for a refill. It seemed to me
that if the drink waiter knew you had the card, then he would not, on seeing
an empty glass, come over and give you a refill unless you called him over
to do it. In the land restaurants I've been in, if your glass goes empty, a
waiter comes by and refills your glass. The water glasses were treated that
way on the ship, but not the pop glasses. Heck, that part of the service is
better in a Ponderosa near where I live; if the coke glass gets near empty a
waitress marches over and asks if you'd like a refill. This makes me think
that it's Carnival policy to NOT do pop refills unless the customer goes out
of his way to request one. What should happen is that you get not a 6-8 oz.
glass, but the whole 12 or 20 oz. container along with the glass as
boiler-plate. Or at least use decent size glasses, like the tumblers they
have for the tea and lemonade.

Based on that, on our next Carnival cruise: no drink card for me. Way
over-priced for what you get unless you want to make looking for a drink
waiter a significant part of your trip. I like Carnival A LOT, I just don't
like this one facet and I can avoid it.

I actually found it myself see below\\

Royal Cocktail Card
The program is available to all guests twenty-one (21) years of age and up
and may be purchased at all bars and lounges. This entitles the holder to
twelve (12) house/call brand cocktails, domestic beer and house wine
by-the-glass

The adult "drink" cards were $42.00 including tip when we were on Voyager in
May.

When do you buy these and who sells them? Is this a good value?

They are sold at the bars and you can buy them almost any time (that was the
case on my last RCI cruise).

Whether or not they are a good value depends on your drink preference. You
just have to do the math by comparing prices on the drink "menus" with
what's covered by the card.

Thanks, if the policy has changed recently, that is good to know.

In response to the original poster... in the past, the cards did not cover
frozen drinks.

I've also heard recently that RCCL no longer offers the adult drink card.

Not worth the money you ay for the card. Bring your own soda/pop on
board. It's much cheaper, especially if you get it on sale. We always
bring a 24 pack of caffine free diet coke with us.

If you drink lots of soda it is well worth it!! 24 sodas would not last my
friends two seconds on the boat and im sure we all dont want to carry 50 pounds
of soda in our luggage.

I think you are missing the point, the poster was asking about ADULT
drinking cards.... I believe he means LIQUOR, if you wanna go cheap and
bring your own soda, that is your business. How about answering the
posters' question??

Thanks but maybe you need to read the posting, he says SODA and POP, he never
says anything about LIQUOR, THANKS!! And the response was to the other posting
who said he hated the SODA card because they never gave him good service when
using it.
