I have heard that parking at the airport - which is next to the cruise
pier - is $5 a day. Is this still the rate and can cruisers park there?
Thanks in advance. Muriel

I'm pretty sure that the airport is not *that* close to the pier. Last summer
'02 we paid 8.00 per day across and down the street from the pier. Your docs
will tell you more about parking and possibly the phone number to the lot.

My husband flew to San Diego for his job. The airport is not that far
from the port, but it is NOT next to the port.

There is a parking lot across the street from the cruise ship terminal.
It is under new management!! It is now being run by Five Star Parking
(619) 235-4500 Call them for pricing.
The parking at the airport is very expensive. $18 for first day & then
$24 per day there after. http://home.nethere.net/sdambassador/airport.html

Hi Muriel.......

Have you considered one way car rental? Here in Florida it's pretty
reasonable. so we often do that when we cruise from Miami. Of course your
trip from SF to SD is much further, but it still might be more cost
effective than to do long term parking. Where you headed to now?

Arlene: Our cruise from SF to Miami (which involved only returning by
air) was overbooked so we took HAL up on their offer to change to the
Amsterdam - round trip SD for 21 days. Good cabin - big shipboard
credit. We'll drive to SD - have left from there before. Parking is $7
a day right across from the pier. I don't think I would trust a rental
for that great distance. Our car loves I-5.
Ports are mainly in Central A. and the Canal.

Hi Ken... That 5 star parking, you mentioned-- Is that "Allright
Parking"? ...If so, would you happen to know their charges?
Thanks....Jon

It was Allright Parking but it is now being run by Five Star Parking
(619) 235-4500 Call them for pricing. I just got off the phone with them
and they said it was $12 per day. Rent has gone up in San Diego.

I know of 2 hotels that at one time will let you park there if you stayed
with them pre-cruise.

1. Hampton Inn Sea World
3888 Greenwood St.
(619) 299-6633

2. Best Western Bayside Inn
555 W. Ash St.
(619) 233-7500

There may be others that I don't know of. You can find a listing
of hotels with phone numbers on the Ambassador web page.

Hi Ken....I used to stay at the Best Western and park there, but now it
is such a hassle for disembarkation day. The cab drivers are down right
ugly when you tell them where you're going. ...Perhaps it's like in LA
where the best western has a shuttle service that _never_ shows up --
the cab drivers hate the short runs, 'cause then there forced to the
back of the line when they return.. .....Me thinks it would be sooo
much simpler to just carry my bag across the highway. ....Jon
