I've got a room booked at NYC's Hotel Chelsea later this month. I could
stay anywhere, but the history of the place appeals to me. How is it,
staying there? Is the history worth it, or is it a pit?

It's expensive, for one thing, too expensive for the creative and/or
marginal
types who used to frequent it. It still attracts moneyed creative
types, and
those of a certain income who wish to relive its past. Still plenty of
rock
people there - just those of a certain status. The Gershwin is more
like the
old Chelsea than the Chelsea is nowadays.
