If you are flying into Australia try to come in via Singapore the duty free
prices at Singapore are really outstanding, much better than any of the
shops in Singapore and probably half the price of anything you can purchase
here in Australia. The less 10% GST price is ******** there are much better
prices to be had than that . As a bona fide traveller you can claim the GST
at the airport on leaving the country anyway. So ignore that price.

If you obey the rules:
(a) price of $300 or more (or a combination of items, all being taken out
with you, on one sales docket for $300 or more); and
(b) you physically have the item with you when you go to get the rebate.
So in other words you're better off buying a $310 camera than a $299 one.
Go figure! And don't put it in your checked luggage (dumb anyway) or ship
it ahead.
