Hi,

Is there a good site where you can compare the different GSM-operators in
Australia? This in regard to call costs, coverage etc?

Hello Magnus

I don't know where you can compare the costs of each provider but the
provider with the most amount of land coverage is Telstra however this is
only relevant if you are travelling in the bush and if you are travelling
around in the bush a lot of the time you will want a CDMA phone unless you
can afford a satellite phone as a CDMA phone gives much broader coverage
than the normal mobile phone.

I have had some providers give me a spiel about how good their coverage is
and make comparisons based on population coverage saying they only cover a
few percent of the population less than Telstra. That few percent of
population could represent thousands of square kilometres of no coverage.

Hi

Thanks for the answer. How about prices for GSM prepaid cards? Is there a
big difference in prices per minute or are they approx. the same? Who are
the main GSM providers, apart from Telstra & Vodaphone?

/Magnus

Not sure if this covers what you're looking for, but I've used this site for
figuring out which mobile phones to buy ...

Hello Magnus

I am sorry I can't really give you an answer on prepaid phone cards as I
have always had a contract and never used a prepaid card.

Check out this link. It gives links to all or most of the mobile phone
providers in Australia.
