i guess it is better to avoid to travel to Alberta just to see a flat
land.
I made it to Edmonton only to drive of bad streets that made my car
feel like a boxcart .To only big attraction in Edmonton is refineries,
The only good part of the trip was to drive thru the rockies mountains
which start west of Calgary and extend well into British Colombia.
But those craxy canuks pay over $ 6 U.S. a gallon for fuel which made
my trip a painfull experience.Even the food is expensive especially in
Alberta.

If anyone but YOU were writing, I might sympathize about "craxy canuks"
making your (oops, "you're") experience "painfull". But you're just an
eternally monomaniacal klutz with a single axe to grind, over & over
again.
If you're so bummed off about Alberta, why don't you just STAY AWAY?

Edmonton news,Edmonton news....people from all over Canada flocking to
Alberta to buy houses at the price of $300 000 U.S. where the cost of
living has reach new heights .The deregulation of power have made hydro
bills by more than 40 % in one year. The cost of heating have gone up by
60%.
Still the crazy canucks are so desperate to finf work that they go
live in Alberta for jobs averaging $12 an hour where the social life is
a war zone like to say the least.
The price of fuel has just reach over $6 U.S. a gallon and their is no
end in sight to the climb.
Still the canuks are buying houses at record prices like if Alberta is
the only good place to live in America. The price of food is now equal
to waht you would find in Alaska.
In surveys 90% of the people said that Edmonton is the best place to
live in Canada and they said that it is 1000 times better than any city
in USA.
They explained that is why they often gives more than 20% more than
listing prices of houses.
Pollution is high but all people surveyed blames the highest level of
ashtma and allergies in the country to the use of carpets in homes.
A spokeperson for a company selling laminate floor decalred that
Edmonton is braking record sales of laminate of the entire continent
according to corporate headquarters numbers.
A doctor on the other hand declared that most citizens of Edmonton are
ignorant and just buy into any corporate skims outhere .
A consumers grour advocate mentionned that Edmonton has the highest
level of inflation in North America because of the people themselves
that thinks balck gold brings riches.

I guess basic "math" is a painful experience for you too, as is spelling
$ 1.189 a liter X 3.78 L (per USGallon)= $ 4.49 gallon Canadian, X .89
(cents) = $ 4.00 US per gallon.
That's not a lot more than they're charging in California.
Next time, stay home half-wit.

Edmonton news ,August the 9 2006.
A man miraculously survive to tell waht the cops did.
Shooting victim tells tale.
Lawyer says man shot six times by cops, twice while on the ground.
While he was running,he was shot once in each arm and as a
result,fell to the ground.
'' He picked himself up and started running again and he was shot in
the back''
Steele then alleges police kicked him in the ribs and leg while he lay
bleeding on the ground.
''The police gave him orders to tuen over on his back and he
complied. While he was lying on his back in a submissive way,he saw two
bright flashes come from the same location and heard two loud bangs. He
beleives that these could only have come from a firearm''

But some places in Canada do have $6+ US fuel. Just returned from a drive
to Alaska, and least I paid was $1.019L which is about $3.45 gallon for
diesel. Diesel was cheaper by about 10 cents a liter. Highest I saw was
$1.99L and gas was about $2.12 That made the diesel about $6.53 gallon.
Most I paid was about $1.649, which is still $5.60 gallon. Paid $3.15
gallon in SF bay area 2 days ago.

Thank you for the numbers.
I laid a trap for Maxx and Sechumlib that always salnders without
giving informations about the subject.
The prices are still higher in Alberta than most states .And Edmonton
and Calgary remains a bad choice for a trip, especially Edmonton.
And to critizise spelling would be more appropriate in a grammar or
else group. Not in a travel newsgroup.

Agreed, however isn't it still UNDER $3 U.S.$ in much of the U.S.? Surely,
in Alberta, with the LOWEST provincial fuel tax in Canada, we shouldn't HAVE
to pay more than the AVERAGE U.S. price? If there were any justice, that is.

$6 per gallon is CHEAP!! In the UK we're paying nearly $9 per gallon.
The average price of a house is around $400,000 House prices are
rising @ around 6% per year. We have a domestic debt of almost
$2,000,000,000,000. We have 1.5M muslims.

And the price at the pump is hurting the lower and middle class the
most.
Alberta has the lowest provincial fuel tax in Canada and is major
world
oil producer.
Anyone visiting Edmonton can see the major refineries. And many people
reports asthma or respitory problems that are probably caused by the
emissions of the refineries.
I agree with you the price of fuel in Alberta should be lower .
But i do not foresee the day when the oil companies would stop aiming
at
record profit.
Their is a lot of frustration in the working class. The price of fuel
is eroding the social fabric which create an " in fight" within the
working class creating a mentality of fighting for the buck.
Would their be a catastrophy in Canada.Let's say a earthquake in
British Colombia probably the oil companies would jump on that excuse to
substantially raise the price of fuel at the pump.
Really shows an extreme exploitation and a disrecpect of the working
people.
I think most people would agree. The working class (including small
business owners) are the foundation of North America.
And the oil companies are damaging beyond repairs a large portion of
us.

Why are acting like a bad cop?
Facts : Steele never threatened anyone with a knife.
And let's face it .The edmonton cop tried to kill the guy so he would
not be able to tell what happened.
You must be an Edmonton cop and a bad one .
According to you anyone holding a knife threatened someone and should
be shot dead by the Edmonton cops.
You are saying that the cops are in duty to kill.
I am sorry their oath is to protect life of citizens.
Of course in Edmonton it might be very different because the mayor is
Jewish?
And Ya!make us beleive that a guy lunged at by a german shepard is a
threat or that after running and shot and lying on the groung he is
still a threat to armed cops.
Why don't you tell us why are so many people talking against Edmonton?

Attacking a police dog is a serious offense. Even if he is wounded,
and laying on the ground, he can still be shot again, if he still has

Criminals are to be brought alive and properly charge.
Any cops harassing or wannabe vigilanties or destroying lives are to
be considered criminals breaking the law.

What? No comments on what I said? You complain about me insulting you, so
I answer your comments, and you come back with an insult. You've proven
that you don't know what you're talking about. You only care that the

Uh, no, you're not "reporting", you're propagandizing and facts are the

Further to previous posting: Houses are so expensive in the UK now that
young people have the greatest difficulty in affording one. Often they
have to live with their parents until they're in their thirties. Their
only hope in many cases is for financial assisance from their parents.
More than half one's income can go on mortgage repayments. Renting a
house costs even more. All this is put down to:-
Single person occupancy, virtually unknown ten or fifteen years ago.
Second home (holiday home) ownership.
Simple running out of space, water and everything else, we're only a
small island
Immigration. We have a flood of immigrants from just about everywhere.
Most of them are useless. However if you're from the USA or Australia
with useful qualifications you'll have a devil of a job to get in here!

Seriously, I travel to Edmonton quite a bit on business. It's no
different from any other city its size. They are having problems, but
nowhere near the way these lunatics are distorting it. Mind your own
business, obey the law, and you will have a pleasant trip.
It's obvious that these couple of goobers have had some kind of run in

Not quite exactly someone else owns the land which you have the right to
use for a given period of time. commonly centuries, for a payment. You
own the building(s) on the property. The right to use the property is
transferable.

Leasehold is not common in the United States (except Hawaii) and Canada,
but, is common in the U.K. where the remnants of the landed aristocracy
still own the land, but, in order to pay the property taxes, they lease the
land to others so that they can draw income from the land as well as pay the
taxes on it, which are usually passed on to the people who erect buildings
and businesses on the land. KM

I just DO NOT understand and WILL NOT understand why, in Edmonton, with,
what, THREE world class refineries nearby and the LOWEST provincial gas tax
in Canada, why gas prices are NOT, consistently, the LOWEST, by far, in
Canada. Meanwhile, in Ontario, with higher fuel taxes, higher provincial
tax, aging refineries, etc etc...gasoline is consistencly CHEAPER than in
Edmonton.

They still have long leases in Banff and in Jasper National Parks. I do
believe that private ownership of land in the national parks is outlawed. Is
it possible that there is a "grandfather" clause, allowing SOME old private
titles to exist?

It is because Alberta is a extreme right wing province .Alberta is now a
leader in inflation and cost of living.
The deregulation of electricity has seen the price of electricity raise
more than 40 % in the last two years.
The high price of gazoline in Edmonton is well protected by the big
wigs of Alberta.
