View Full Version : Mail bombed!

So far I have received over 1000 "Microsoft" phony patch messages containing
a worm or virus. I assume whoever is behind this has been harvesting e-mail
addresses from the newsgroups. Anyone else getting bombed with these fake
messages?. I'm closing this e-mail account and trying to figure out how to
avoid this in the future as my ISP will kick out any messages I send with
"NOSPAM" or a similar addition in my posted address. I hope the ****er who
is behind this ends up in a jail cell with a 7 foot tall convict with a
taste for forcible anal rape!

Seems to be happening everywhere. Lot of people have been reporting the same
problem.

I regularly use a half dozen e-mail accounts and only the one I have been
using for Usenet has ANY of flood, and it gets several hundred a day. You
might want to use a 'real' account that you check in web-based format only,
and that you go to only to flush.

An addition: this is DEFINITELY a Usenet bombing. I just created a new
Hotmail account YESTERDAY that I am using as my reply address. From
yesterday to today, it has been bombed to overcapacity with virus messages.
This is in less than 24 hours--and I have never actually posted a mail from
it, I have only used it as my passive reply address for Usenet since
yesterday!!!

download 'mailwasher' and manage it this way - easy to locate via
www.google.com
otherwise use an ISP that filters mail
better yet - DO NOT use your real name or email address in newsgroups

Nope, I haven't had that problem. I keep my anti-virus and Windows and OE
up to date. All I get is the stupid viagra and porn spam, averaging about
10 a day in my bulk mail box. Easy enough to just do a double check and
delete all.

You can be mail bombed regardless of your OS and anti-virus software.

Which means that the Usenet virus bombing is not going to your phony address
with the 'nospam' in it--because that address doesn't exist (and the
harvester is not sophisticated enough to remove all incidences of 'no' and
'spam' in variations of e-mail addresses it bombards). Instead, you are
blessed with just getting the typical Hotmail spam that Hotmail seems to
attract, which we all know and love so well!
