I remember flying LAX-MEX in the 70s, Western owned the route in my memory, and they used DC-10s. Now there are no wide body nonstops, and Delta just does it by code share. Can anyone shed some light on these changes?

On another note, rec.travel.air used to be so high quality, filled with knowledgeable and interesting people, now lots of spam. Is there a new home for aviation geeks?
