Easyjet to fly from London Southend Airport

.........London Southend..........that is!!!!

Who makes this stuff up?

It's Southend Airport....for gawds sake!

Fly with Ryanair to "Hamburg", you'll end up about 70 km away in the
town of Lübeck. Lübeck has a nice historic town center, though, and a
famous christmas market.
If you go to Ryanair's "Frankfurt", you'll find yourself 100 km away
from Frankfurt, literally in the middle of nowhere. "Düsseldorf": 90 km
aways from Düsseldorf, etc etc.

Funny though, in the case of München (Munich) they did not name the
airport "[next major city] - [airport somewhere]" like in the above
cases, but "Memmingen (München West)". Maybe 115 km is to far away even
in Ryanair's standards :)

Anyway. You get what you pay for.

I flew from Hahn ("Frankfurt") with Ryanair about ten years ago
because where they were flying to was, actually, convenient. They
have a brass neck both with their cavalier attitude towards geography
and their hidden charges. I avoid using so-called "cheap" airlines
because, one way or another, you end up paying more, particularly if
time is money...

[though ties in nicely with another thread about how cheap Ryanair
are.....well, if you were coming into London and land at Southend,
its gotta be cheap because the onward time and money will knock a
bit of a hole in Ryanair ticket price and convenience..]

Is it much harder to get to (from Euston, say) than Gatwick or Heathrow?

If it isn't you can be sure that Ryanair are working on a way to make
sure it is...

As for Southend the airport owner has paid to have the station moved to make
it much more convenient and there are trains every 20 minutes to Liverpool
St taking almost exactly an hour which is a bit better than Stansted (every
15 minutes/50 minutes) but not an enormous amount.

Don't you mean a bit worse...

Has the new airport train station opened yet? Once it's open, it'll
be 52 minutes from Liverpool St, the same as Stansted, and similar to
KGX to Heathrow on the Picc, albeit slower than Heathrow or Gatwick
by fast train.

Until then, depends how many taxis there are at Rochford.

R's,
John

Anyway it is intended for the Southend catchment area.

Once you're at the station that serves the fast trains.

Can we have that in pounds?

Stansted is ludicrously expensive to get to from London. *Southend
can't be worse, can it?

Well, the only time I did it was almost forty years ago and the train
went through some pretty, er, dodgy parts of East London. A lot of
those are now not at all dodgy, but I think you would still be well
advised to hire bodyguards for the journey. That would put the price
up...
