Columbus, Indiana

How many days should a person set aside when they visit Columbus? I figure a
afternoon after we arrive, and then the next morning, just before we leave.
We would visit in the middle of May. We will be driving from Pittsburgh, and
plan to drive backroads on the way there traveling through Washington
Courthouse (?), and the way back through Marion. We do not plan to hit any
of the larger cities along the way, since we have already visited them. Any
suggestions of places to see along the way, or nice little places to eat
that are unique to the area such as bar-b-que places or good chicken.

Thanks

Tom

PS I plan to post this to the road group also, since that group appears to
know some good routes.

DAYS??? Seems more like a "how slow should we roll through"
kinda place. You did say "Indiana" right?

Let us know when you get back if you filled all that time and how.

I assume you are going to see the famous architecture of
Columbus. It probably depends on how long it takes you to look
at a building. I know there are a lot of them worth seeing. Sorry
I can't offer an opinion there.

(For those who aren't aware, the city of Columbus has several
buildings by world famous architects, public buildings as well
as churches and other private buildings.)

Have you been to Nashville, in Brown County? It's a bit touristy,
but there are a lot of art galleries and shops. The state park
is nice.

I you like that particular kind of architecture, its a fantastic place.
Going from one place to another should take at least one whole day.
The library is fantastic. As a matter of fact all of it is. And its
all in one city.

Its not just driving by, but you can go inside some of the buildings.
The furnishings are just as spectacular.
