Fri 20/02/09 15:55 - Kenny Bolle, the young man who stabbed Bart
Bonroy in Ostend two years ago has been sentenced to 18 years in
prison.

On February 3 Bart Bonroy (photo) and some friends were celebrating
the 18th birthday of Jilles Coopman. At about 3:00 AM Bart and Jilles
were hailing a taxi to go home.

Kenny Bolle (18 at the time) asked Jilles and Bart for a cigarette,
but they did not have one. Kenny began to act provocatively and tease
the boys.

At a certain moment the boys got into a tussle and Kenny pulled a
knife out. He stabbed Jilles in the stomach and then Bart, somewhat
harder. Bart fell on the ground and Kenny took to flight. Bart died an
hour later of his stab wounds.

Jilles Coopman (photo) was able to identify the assailant for the
police.

Kenny Bolle was tried by jury. He was found guilty for the murder of
Bart Bonroy and for the attempted murder of Jilles Coopman.

The public prosecutor had asked for a 22 year sentence; the youngster,
now 20 years old, was handed an 18 year sentence.
