Working cash. That isn't an enormous amount to carry.

Maybe not in Japan, Singapore or another society where it's reasonably safe
to walk the streets at night. It's a huge amount to carry on the streets of
Mexico City, and clearly suggests stupidity. Any time I am "out on the town"
in any major city in Mexico, my wallet is safely hidden in my room, and I
only bring ID and the cash (or perhaps one credit card) that I need for the
evening.
