Aussies in London
When I lived in London I was amazed at the thousands of Aussie, NZers
and S.Africans there. Is the reverse true? Are there thousands of Brits down under? I've only ever travelled north of the equator, so I'm clueless about this... Thanks, David www.freewebs.com/travel-deals |

In fact many thousands of British folk living in OZ are able to vote. I think the general idea is that Aussies and Kiwis go to the UK for their Overseas Experience, work for a year, and then flee home to where it is warm, often dragging along a score of Poms with their tales of paradise. One reason I was curious is that I am a British immigrant to Canada.
Certainly, Canada is in many ways Paradise compared to Britain, not the reverse, mainly because the prices and pressures of life in England are awful (I lived in England again from 1997 to 2001, and have also lived in considerably less-pressured Germany). Mind you I don't live in Toronto (labelled "cash city" by one Quebecois singer) or Vancouver (where I'm told prices of houses are similar to London.) I presume Sydney is pretty high-pressure too? Actually I live in Montreal, which is a bit of a Latin oasis in Anglo-Saxon Canada, so maybe I have a skewed view. Also, I am well aware that "London" is not equal to "England", though my relations are all British farmers and experiencing lots of stress despite being in the countryside...
