What exactly is a recovering smoker? Seriously.

Does it mean "former smoker" or "trying to quit, but still smoke sometimes" or
what? If you were a "former smoker," that means that you were not smoking, and
were not "invading" the space of a non-smoker.

Do you actually consider someone wrinkling their nose at you, and even waving
their hands about, to be on a par with blowing smoke in their vicinity?

That sounds like a smoker's argument to me, whether or not the proponent still
inhales or not.

If a non-smoker goes over to the smoking area, as she indicated, and
THEN starts waving their hands and wrinkling their noses, then yes it
IS on a par with a smoker blowing smoke into the non-smokers area.....

You've got to toughen up those lungs, ref. I would think that living in
one of the most polluted states in the nation, would have toughened you
up already.

What is a recovering smoker? On a par as a recovering alcoholic,
recovering drug addictor etc. I have been a non smoker for 5 years.
Hopefully I will not go back to smoking. So IMO I am a recovering
smoker.
As for the other question I would never go into non smoking territory -
NO SMOKING _ when I smoked and light up a cigarette where many many
times non smokers have stationed themselves in a smoking section
complaining of the smoke, waving their hands and wrinkling their noses.
That really made me angry. When they saw smoke coming out of my ears
they sometimes, not always, left.

Yes and no. It's just as rude, but not as ill-making.

I was not thinking of a non-smoker going over to the smoker's side (as on a
Celebrity ship), but was thinking of the old scenario where smokers could smoke
most anywhere, and would sit down next to non-smokers and not only not move,
and not put out their cigarettes, but seemingly gleefully would blow smoke just
to irritate those around them.

I've never waved my arms around and made a fuss, but I do recall the awful days
when smoke was everywhere. Children, such as myself, grew up with that around
us. I'm glad kids (and adults) today don't have to tolerate that in
California, at least.

Just what the hell is a "smoker's argument"? I consider someone
wrinkling his/her nose at me and waving his/her hands about to be
utterly rude. If I am smoking in an area where smoking is permitted,
and you are bothered by the smoke, then you should leave.
