Default Buy One Share of American Airlines Stock

LOL! At http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1889199-517456 you can buy one
share of American Airlines stock (I see their picture still has the old
logo) for $85.00 (instead of the $25.22 plus fees it would cost from a
broker).

Probably that same site that sells old Atari Corporation stock
certificates
autographed by Jack Tramiel.

For me it clicks through to he

http://www.oneshare.com/stock.asp?st...ericanairlines

where they charge $25 plus fees. The fees are pretty high, but
they're in line with what any other broker would charge for the
nuisance of buying one share and issuing a certificate for it.

John

Have you ever tried to get a broker to deliver a single share UNFOLDED
stock certificate? The prices on the referenced web site seem to be the
going market rate for the share + $44 for the framing + $39 for commission,
shipping, and handling.

It's too bad they don't have some classic stock certificates. The
last time I saw an article on single share ownership, the champion was BOS
(Boston Celtics). Collectors of fine steel engravings would pay for
pristine framed certificates from classic companies which are no longer
around, such as Chrysler, TWA, People's Express, etc. There are also
original certificates from the likes of BKB (Bank of Boston) and BK (Bank
of New York) going back to the late 1700's which are valued collector items
worth far more than the going share price, even adjusting for the
intervening splits. And, of course there are certificates for some
companies which could only trade in-state, such as the Mustang Ranch in
Nevada.
