Pre-Cruise NYC Flight Stuff

I always want to win one of the helicopter tours around the island. It
won't be as much fun as it once was when you could fly anywhere, but it just
looks really cool.

You can do tours from five minutes ($49 per) up to 30 minutes ($275 per
person)

Or just win on the Apprentice and take a flight.

Well, all of your comments scared me a LOT. So here is what I decided
to do:
1) LAX departure is the pits so a Long Beach departure remained
2) Found a different flight leaving JFK to Amsterdam (but via
Frankfurt rather than the non-stop flight that left Newark). More
expensive and longer than the Newark flight but not by much.

Booked Jet Blue out of Long Beach - REALLY NICE all around.
Flying Singapore Air out of JFK.

Pity you did not make your problem clear at the beginning.

It sounded like you already had booked the EWR/Amsterdam flight!

If I knew you hadn't, I would have strongly suggested you connect via
Philadelphia ... which has great non-stop service to Amsterdam and
California [and all Philadelphia terminals are inter-connected]!

'A' train(subway) to Howard Beach and then the AirTrain. Hopefully the
trip will be less ugly than before.
