Equipment question for HNL flights...
Is NW phasing out the DC-10s anytime soon?
On airliners.net and jetphotos.net I've seen lots of pictures of NW 744s at HNL, but I've never seen a sked that lists such flights. Are these military charters? Are these military charters? Check schedules between Japan and Hawaii. Japanese actually pay money to go to Hawaii (instead of americans using FF points to go there free) and they do so without the need for high frequency, so airlines can operate more efficienctly with larger planes. |

NW has many 744's and it is not unusual that they from time to time schedule
some through HNL on their orient routes (they fly HNL-NRT, HNL-NYO, and HNL-KIX) They are phasing out/have phased out their DC10-40's (P&W engines) but are apparently keeping their DC10-30's (GE engines) for domestic routes. That thought occurred to me. Thanks! -- Your body can't lie to Damon Scott Hynes __ http://www.opensecrets.us/ Marny Stanier Midkiff -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheMar...iationSociety/ |

Thanks. I'm in the initial stages of planning a Hawai`i trip next summer, and wanted to fly the biggest plane I could, for the kids' sake. Sure, UA has 777s, but a year is a long time...LOL! I wonder if any airline flying to HI will not be in BK by next year... |
