Default Incidently who needs shampoo on the plane?

The media has been making a big deal out of no longer being able to
carry shampoo on the plane.

Q. Just why the hell do you need shampoo on the flight? Last I flew
there's no way I could even if I wanted to wash my hair in the toilets
so the idea of taking shampoo on the flight is completely bunk anyway.

Can't afford a taxi, and won't take public transit?

Often I get to hotels late in the evening.

Once, I needed some things, and no nearby stores were open. To get to one
that was took an hour by taxi to get there, shop, and get back to the
hotel. Not something I really want to do when I get to a strange city at 11
pm. Transit was also out of the question at that time of night.

That would not have worked very well the last time I was in London. I
arrived at my hotel on Sunday night, and it seemed that all of the
shoppes were already closed. Without knowing the location of an open
merchant, your suggestions are not at all helpful.

The OP's concern was "walking distance," not closure. I admit that
store closure would be a serious problem... if your checked luggage
was "delayed." In that instance, I advise not leaving the airport w/o
seeking assistance from airport personnel... or checking the trash
near the security gate. :-/ =R=

Public transit, in a strange city, is seldom an attractive prospect. Not
until you've got time to work it out.
