You might want to reconsider that decision not to have a booster/child seat for
your son.

Have you ever been in an accident where you are thrown against your belt? Now
consider it will be YOUR weight flying forward against your child's body and
the seat belt in the event of turbulance or a difficult landing.

I thought parents held them outside the seat belt? 1 year old weights
what, 20 lb? How many g's you think they're gonna generate here?

Should be fine for him to sit/lie in his reserved seat at other times, but
please consider what might happen to a child on your lap if the seatbelt were
REALLY needed.

Is there a reason the regular seatbelt won't work? They aren't positioned
the same as a cars seat belt. It always looked like it would restain even
a small child well. You might have trouble keeping the kid in one though.
They could probably wriggle out pretty easily. (their durn legs are so short).
