We need to have a RTC person stationed in each port so that we could
mail our stuff to them for them to hold for us. Would be way cheaper
than taking it on the plane.

I love your idea(grin).

Thanks Becca...I'm getting better and better each day! I even have
clothes out for the Danube Cruise in September...well some of them! I'm
debating as whether take some warm clothes being that Europe may be
cool then especially being on the water. Guess layering is the best
...worried about the luggage too, now that the airlines are so stingy
about how much you can bring on.

What to pack is a tough decision. You are right, layering will probably
be the best idea. You will keep warm and it will give you more options.
I will have to think about that when I am packing for Alaska next year.

You can try to take as many carry-ons as they will allow, this may save
you a few dollars, since they are charging for bags, now. On most
airlines, there is a 40 lb limit on carry-ons. If anybody needs a
vacation right now, it is you. That goes for Sue & Kevin, too. What a
rough year it has been.
Rough is putting it mildly, Becca! You are limited as far as carry-ons
are concerned...one per person plus your purse.
So that does not help very much. ;-(

Jean, you might want to buy a very large purse. I have a huge one that I
sometimes use flying to a cruise and it holds alot. Also Ed is allowed one

I have several very large ones, Sue, that I put my smaller purse, documents
and other items in...Never thought about a back pack for Ed...I knew he
wouldn't carry a purse..LOL! Thanks!
SAS allows two bags per passenger and the weight is 50 lbs per bag...The
carry on is 8Kg which I think is around 17 lbs.

Kevin's personal item is usually his camera, but there are times he will
put that in a back pack so he has a little more space to pack.

You are right, 8kg is just a little over 17lbs.

I always mail stuff home to myself when I'm traveling on land, and I
will mail things to my daughter in Miami for my land vacation (like
AAA tour books and stuff like that) for after the cruise.

It is not easy, but we have been traveling using carry ons only. We use
two rolling bags, a laptop bag and a backpack. One problem, is men's
shoes. They take up a lot of space, but you need casual shoes, beach
shoes and shoes for formal nights. We will not mention how many shoes I
take. :-)

Sue, we use a back pack as a carry on, then we use the backpack on the
cruise as a beach bag and when we explore ports of call. It holds the
camera, a bottle of water, binoculars, souvenirs, maps, etc. This way
you have both arms free.

Our back pack is usually Kevin's personal item, so it doesn't take away
from our allowed # of carry-on bags. We do the same thing using the
pack-pack when we go ashore, it holds everything we need.

Now I wish I had bought a bigger backpack.g I looked for a JanSport
backpack with a leather bottom, because I take it everywhere when I
travel. I found it at Amazon.com. This was right before the holidays,
and I ended up buying everything there. Gosh, I am lazy. lol To be
honest, I dislike shopping.
