Default Bermuda cruises - what's the attraction?

I don't like a lot of port calls, myself, but also have no desire to go to
Bermuda... It seems that the majority of the reviews I've read, all say that it
rains all the time, and the food is very expensive... I don't see the appeal in
that. Also... When DH was in the Coast Guard, he spent some time there, and
didn't like it at all. Granted, this was a long time ago, but it still left a
bad taste in his mouth.

Good question Lloyd.
With the ship virtually shut down at night how much walking around can
you do.
In fact if one is disinclined to sun bathe or snorkel every day what
does one do?.

SUNNY........in addition it must be pretty boring if it rains
throughout the ships stay

Bermuda is EXTREMELY expensive as a hotel destination & therefore the Cruise
make it affordable to more people. Bermuda also has great beaches, shopping
& golf. I like the fact that the gangway is open 24 hours a day so you can
come & go as you please and not worry about missing the ship as you do on
most other cruises. Bermuda doesn't require a plane to get to the ship for
most people living in the Northeast & mid-atlantic states which is a great
comfort in these days of terrorism. Bermuda is very safe as compared to some
cruise ports in the Caribbean. A cruise to Bermuda is just about perfect in
my book! johnny

From time to time there are postings here about Bermuda cruises that
ooh and aah over whichever line is going and where.

But virtually every one of the Bermuda cruises that I read about here
all indicate that it is just taking your hotel with you to Bermuda. A
hotel, I might add, that has extremely small rooms!

So why do Bermuda with a cruise and not just a land vacation? And for
that matter, what is there that makes Bermuda so attractive as a
vacation spot at all for more than a couple days?

This curious mind wants to know.

Hamiliton and St. George are very walkable. Also both have street
festivals the evenings that some of the ships are in port.

There are people who go to Bermuda and never sun bath or snorkle. Two
different co-workers of mine went last year and never went to a beach.
They loved it. There is golf, hiking, sailing, shopping etc.

It is no more likely to rain than on any other cruise.

-Boating.
-Shopping.
-Raising cane on the moped (children and old folks N/A).
-Go to a pub and enjoy some local talent.
-Just about anything else you would do on a non snow based and non gambling
based vacation (don't include the ships casino and if you are gambling happy,
you are in Vegas or some other gambling mecca).

Weather is a factor on ANY vacation ANYWHERE. Boredom is not in my vocab or
lifestyle.

have no desire to go to
Bermuda

Have you tried it at least once?

and the food is very expensive

Of course it is. Most everything on ANY Island is imported (especially small
Islands far from any mainland). A good vacation is well worth the money.

it
rains all the time

Nope. But like any vacation, does anyone have control over the weather other
than booking a trip during times that the weather *on average* meets your
desires?
