-Boating.
-Shopping.
-Raising cane on the moped (children and old folks N/A).
-Go to a pub and enjoy some local talent.
-Just about anything else you would do on a non snow based and non gambling
based vacation (don't include the ships casino and if you are gambling happy,
you are in Vegas or some other gambling mecca).

Let me add to the list:

-Tennis
-Golf
-Spa
-Tourist attractions like museums, perfume factory, botanical gardens, crystal
and lemminginton caves, Gibbs and St. David's Lighthouses etc. etc. (if you
have already seen them, GO AGAIN!)
-Fishing
-Eating ('cmon, this is a vacation, go ahead and pig out!)
-Sex (always better in Bermuda)
-Party (children, old folks and straight folk N/A)
-Anything I forgot, so I don't have to keep adding to the list

Subject: Bermuda cruises - what's the attraction?

With the ship virtually shut down at night how much walking around can
you do.

Sunny:

I've done numerous cruises to Bermuda. The ship is not virtually shut down at
night.
There is always something going on... just the casino is closed.

There are various historic sights.... some very nice art galleries.. the
Botanical gardens.. the Crystal Caves... the Perfumery... shopping!!! there's
all sorts of things to do.

I'll never tire of visiting Bermuda.

They loved it. There is golf, hiking, sailing, shopping etc.

Don't forget Horseback riding. Nothing like cruising in the saddle over the
sand by Horseshoe Bay :-)

You know Lloyd, I've asked myself that same question many many times.
We've been on 41 cruises, with several more already booked, and never once
have we considered doing Bermuda. A major part of my cruising experience
is the enjoyment of post-dinner night life. A docked ship in two Bermuda
ports w/o all of this is not for me. I never say never,
but.................

Arlene ---probably won't be going to Bermuda any time soon

From time to time there are postings here about Bermuda cruises that
ooh and aah over whichever line is going and where.

But virtually every one of the Bermuda cruises that I read about here
all indicate that it is just taking your hotel with you to Bermuda. A
hotel, I might add, that has extremely small rooms!

So why do Bermuda with a cruise and not just a land vacation? And for
that matter, what is there that makes Bermuda so attractive as a
vacation spot at all for more than a couple days?

This curious mind wants to know.

Bermuda hotel rates are out of this world!

And so is a vacation to the Island.

Then add meals... air transportation........
wheew.....

As already said by some others, instead of taking a bird, getting there by ship
is a better choice for those counting pennies.

Right, and for those into that kind of thing there is now a Dolphin
swim.

There is night life, both on and off the ship when it is docked.

Yeah. And we forgot the Maritime Museum

Really cool Titanic display there (at last check). If it is gone, then I am
sure there is something just as interesting in it's place. On a side note, on
one of Glenn's many trips there (this particular trip was a long time ago), his
brother brought back a Chameleon and kept it at home until the next trip where
he brought it back to the same spot where it was caught on along the driveway
to Gibb's and released it. Try that on a plane (or a ship) these days!

That has recently been moved. Used to be a great Dolphin Show (not like the
swim-with-them one of late in Paget) at Grotto Bay. Great swim-up bar in the
pool too. We really miss the old days though. Used to run into the late Jackie
Gleason (from the Honeymooners) at Elbow Beach all the time. We also saw the
first Bermuda Stroller's show there too.
