Default Bermuda cruises - what's the attraction?

So why do Bermuda with a cruise and not just a land vacation?

Have you priced a land vacation on Bermuda? Cruises really are the
most economical way to visit this country. And, the number of days in
port really suffice for getting to know Bermuda.

I liked the Bermuda cruise because you could get to know a country
more in depth than you can on a 9:00-5:00 port call. Your time is your
own, and youhave the most conveniently located hotel there is (if you
pick the right ship).

And, the added benefit of cruising from NYC, for those of us who live
in the NY-NJ metro area, can't be ignored.

Hi Bermuda is a really great port of call .We have been there 6 times on
cruises.But i don't think a Bermuda cruises is for everyone !! The
night life on the ship is not the same as in the Caribbean .Bermuda is
the night life. The thing i like doing the best is renting a Mopet for
the time we are there .I am an early riser and love to ride around the
island early in the morring. And find a beach all to myself . watching
the sun coming up and a swin in the ocean .It just dosen't get any
better !!!

We are booked on the N.Dawn in august i am tying to book a Bermuda
cruise for the week before the Dawn .As back to back cruises. We have't
been to Bermuda since 1999.

Is there any chance of making a family cruise to Bermuda or should I
just put up the extra cash and take that Voyager Of The Seas to
Western Caribbean out of NJ?

I think a family cruise to Bermuda would be fantastic. I would take
either the Zenith 7 day or look at the Nordic Empress 8 day to Bermuda.
The main thing about Bermuda is you don't want to be docked at the
Dockyards for the entire trip, it is better to spend some time in
Hamilton and St George.

I haven't been of a voyerger class ship, so can't say much about the
Voyageer. I do know that getting to NJ for the Voyager would be very easy.

Bermuda would be a nice option on a repositioning cruise. a day or a day and
a half on a 10 day cruise would be okay for me.
Mike

You know Lloyd, I've asked myself that same question many many times.
We've been on 41 cruises, with several more already booked, and never once
have we considered doing Bermuda. A major part of my cruising experience
is the enjoyment of post-dinner night life. A docked ship in two Bermuda
ports w/o all of this is not for me. I never say never,
but.................

Arlene ---probably won't be going to Bermuda any time soon

From time to time there are postings here about Bermuda cruises that
ooh and aah over whichever line is going and where.

But virtually every one of the Bermuda cruises that I read about here
all indicate that it is just taking your hotel with you to Bermuda. A
hotel, I might add, that has extremely small rooms!

So why do Bermuda with a cruise and not just a land vacation? And for
that matter, what is there that makes Bermuda so attractive as a
vacation spot at all for more than a couple days?

This curious mind wants to know.

Perhaps I am spoiled living where I do.
We have the finest beaches, glorious sunrises and sunsets which because
of the locaton I live in I see every a.m. and p.m. loads of shopping,
para sailing (for those who wish to) finest restaurants, etc. Maybe we
do not have the best snorkling but as I do not snorkle I dont mind.

SUNNY........It was interesting to read how enthusiastic the Bermuda
goers are
Haven't seen pink sand but has seen black sand in Hawaii

SUNNY:
On our acreage we filled our swimming pool in when it got to be a chore
to keep it up,with traveling etc.so we turned it into an english
garden, and we really enjoy it fron early april, until the frost kills
everything.

As an alternative to the RCI family of ships, I'll mention Norwegian
Crown from NYC which hits all three ports (the former rotation that
Pacific Princess did) or Norwegian Majesty from Boston which remains
in St. Georges. Freestyle dining seems well suited to a Bermuda
cruise. One advantage already mentioned for a Bermuda cruise is the
ability to come and go as you please 24 hours a day. Freestyle
enhances that by eliminating the dining time constraint as well. You
don't *have* to be aboard by a certain time for dinner. These two
ships are comparable to the Celebrity and RCI ships as far as size and
interiors. It can be argued that Norwegian Crown is the nicest one of
the bunch. Majesty and Zenith are pretty similar inside (same
designers).

I've got mixed feelings about Bermuda. I never quite got used to the
ship being tied up all night long for three nights. I felt so starved
for "being at sea" that I stayed aboard Pacific Princess for it's port
repositionings to Hamilton and Kings Wharf. On the other hand it is
very nice being able to stay on a beach until you felt like leaving
rather than rushing back in time for departure. It was also cool to be
able to hit some of the bars and nightclubs in Hamilton, the quaint
harborside open air pubs in St. Georges, and staying out till last
call at the pub at the Dockyards. One thing that there is no question
on is the island itself. Bermuda is delightful and the waters
surrounding it are gorgeous due to the reefs.

And of course there's nothing like being able to walk out of my
building, yelling "TAXI!" and being at the pier within 10-15 minutes
for *any* type of cruise. It's even better when the ship is heading
down river when it passes by my apartment and keeps right on going...
