For the guys a Tux would be best (black tie) and a formal for the ladies sure, a tux on Carnival... got any more good jokes? Actually, I've seen as many men in in tuxedos on Carnival as on all of the other majors, with the exception of RCCL Voyager class, where there seem to be almost no guys dressed formally. A lot depends on the time of the year, the length of the cruise, etc. Howie |

One thing I do want to say that it is a "zoo" on the embarkation and
disembarkation day. If you drive and plan on getting there early (prior to 12 noon) they will not let you near the ship. The parking lot seems full all the time since there are other cruises also using the port. Just around the corner there is some private parking that may work better. Just don't get too stressed on the first day - its easy to do. Think about the ship - thousands got to get off starting about 8AM and thousands got to get on by 5 PM. Your "ship card" is your everything card on board. You use it to pay for stuff. Before you get on the ship you secure it with a credit card. Most folks call it a "drink and sink card." You also need it to get on and off the ship in the ports. Stop by the casino and get a tether for it. Don't be surprised if you spend and extra $500/person for the week on the "drink and sink." You will need cash in the ports. American $ seemed to work great since we did not need to exhange money. Any large purchases we used a credit card to avoid exchange problems but for small items, drinks, and lunch cash worked. In the ports don't do too much. You are there to relax. |

Oh I can't wait for the Sleezy 3.....This sounds like a great ship. I
believe I also have seen more tuxes on Carnival than on RCCL Voyager. Speaking of the Sleezy 3....I gotta go order my Tee shirts. I think the logo is so cool. Happy 4th of July everyone. |

David C Jacobson wrote: Kevin- David, First off my name is sue, as you can see by the signature at the end of my post. Kevin doesn't post on RTC, not a big deal. As far as the art auctions go, we have discussed this to death recently and I am not going there again. Just one comment on the framing, you can spend a lot or a little on frames. IMO only some pcs are worth spending more on and others I go with a cheap frame. sue In mentioning to the OP to avoid the art auctions, I did not say why. I enjoyed sitting in them, but not knowing much about artists and art, I ended up spending $400 I was not budgeting in my vacation (half of it on a Kinkade that I still haven't gotten framed because it will cost $300-500!). My TA did not tell me that art auctions were on the ship. While I got some nice things to decorate the home, I think I got carried away a bit. Others in attendance spent much more than myself, but still $400 is quite a bit nonetheless. When I was on the Holiday in May, I took it easy and spent less. I agree with you in that some research would have been more beneficial for me before going. "Sue and Kevin Mullen" wrote in message ... David C Jacobson wrote: 3. Try the Cream of Pumpkin soup at dinner time. Thanks, this I will have to watch out for, it sounds very good. 4. Right above the dessert area on the Lido deck there are stairs to go up to the Panorama deck. You will find the Sur Mer restaurant, which has incredible seafood. People miss this place for some reason. Thanks to you I will keep an eye out for it. 5. Avoid the art auctions. Matter of opinion, I enjoy the art auctions. If any one does attend, they should do their research first. 7. There is a great coffee place on the Promenade deck which sells lattes and ice coffees. Sounds wonderful. The one thing missing on most of our cruises has been good coffee. Thanks David, I am putting this in my Sleazy3 file, lots of good info here. sue |

Absolutely no need for a tux. Nice pants and nice shirt and tie work great. |

Actually, I've seen as many men in in tuxedos on Carnival as on all of
the other majors, with the exception of RCCL Voyager class, where there seem to be almost no guys dressed formally. A lot depends on the time of the year, the length of the cruise, etc. Depends on how you look at it, how "stuffy" you are, and who you're trying to impress, I suppose. Even for a 7 day cruise, a nice shirt and tie on these "formal" nights (and on Carnival I use the term very loosely) is quite appropriate. I'm on a cruise to relax and have fun, not dress like a penguin, but whatever floats your boat. |

On our cruise on Carnival's Pride we were seated at a table for 8. All four gentlemen wore tux's on formal night. SUNNY..........Perhaps you need to try all the mainstream cruise lines |
