Default Cruise with Kids

Hi all,

I have a 7-mo old child that I'd like to take along on our next cruise.
Do you know the age limit of the cruise line?

Also, I've heard some cruises charge full fare for the child while some
don't. Any info on that?

And I've heard argument/advice against bringing young children on cruises
and so on. So that's a diff discussion. In this thread, I'd like to
know the possibility of cruising with my child and the cost of doing that.

Thanks in advance for the advice

Hi,

It varies by cruise line and sometimes ship & itinerary. IOW, on some
cruises you can and some you can't.

Also, I've heard some cruises charge full fare for the child while some

See answer above. If you would let us know the ship and itinerary I
am sure someone could answer your question.

Best regards,
Ray

Disney and NCL only charge port and tax for babies.

I have booked 100's of babies on Cruise Ship.
Hope this helps!

Ray & Tamara,

Thanks for the info.

I'm only planning right now so there's no specific ship or dates yet.

But I have cruised with RC and Princess so they will be my options
along with NCL, Holland, Celebrity, and Carnival.
Disney is not my option at this point.

On a side note, my last cruise was with Princess's Dawn and there were
several young babies (around 9 or 10 mos) but they were pretty pleasant
at the pool and even in the dining room.

You might consider NCL, because of the Freestyle dining..With a baby
schedule, you would be able to eat whenever you wish to....Just a thought
from a grandmother! ;-)

Or Princess with Personal Choice dining. Good idea Jean!

Here's an article from a mom who went on 2 cruises with her twin 9 month
olds - I think the woman was nuts. She posted a bit of research she did
on the various lines.

Remember, this is usenet and any effort to direct the flow is clearly
futile.

Most of the mass market cruiselines have cribs, high chairs etc.
available for babies. The fare charge is usually whatever the charges
are for an additional passenger. So, for example, if it's you, your
spouse and the baby, then the baby is charged the third passenger rate.
If it's just you and the baby, then there's a charge for the second
person in the room. Some of the cruiselines have in cabin babysitting,
which is something you may want to consider for dinners and shows. The
only line I know of that has facilities for the 2 years and under crowd
is Disney.

If you do decide to go, I've got some advice for you. First of all,
make sure you have a reclining stroller - that way, baby can nap while
you're at the pool etc. Secondly, make sure you bring common OTC
medicines - liquid tylenol or motrin, decongestant etc. There is no
guarantee that the ship will have it in stock. Thirdly, if there is a
particular food (such as Cheerios) that is a major food group, either
confirm beforehand that the ship has it, or bring it with you. Bring
along small plastic bags so that you can bring crackers etc. along with
you on shore excursions. Lots of Sunscreen.

Good Luck
Heidi
