RCCL implementing fees for Johnny Rockets
I just read on www.Cruise Critic.com that Royal Caribbean will now be
charging a $3.95 fee for eating at Johnny Rockets. The fee will also be for take out orders. The fee started with the Mariner of the Sea this week and will start March 13 on the Navigator of the Sea. Of course the reason for the charge is the same one they use all the time, "to manage demand for the restaurant". Sorry if this was already posted. Bill |

This will affect families with children more than others.
I always thought it was a greasy spoon, (HEAVY on the grease). They do have great Malts and Shakes though, but we ALREADY had to pay for them. Don't forget they tried this fee thing early on and it was a failure. They went back to it being free (except for beverages). |

Everytime I went to JR's on Navigator there was a tremendous line of people
waiting for a seat. Food was good and shakes were outstanding. Maybe it is indeed a way of controlling the lines. With today's low cruise fares, I guess it won't hurt the bottom line either. |

If there are lines for Johnny Rockets it seems the decision by people
whether to stand and wait in them, or not, would "control the demand". You can sell me on the idea it's worth an extra charge for a "fine dining" experience, with improved attention to service and details. BUT.. for better hamburgers, fries and onions rings??? Just an excuse to dig into my pocket again! Regards, Kuki Features Editor http://www.cruisemates.com "HDawson228" wrote in message ... I can go to JR locally any time. Can't really see the attraction of a
chain restaurant on a ship. it is not why I cruise. Not only don't I see the attraction of a chain restaurant on a cruise, I don't see the attraction of chain restaurant on land, either. Our local pub makes a better burger than you could get at Johny Rockets. Lee |

Absolutely my point! I think those that are crying the blues over the JR's
paltry $4 price tag have NEVER eaten a really good burger (and I've had SPECTACULAR burgers served to me in RCCL's main dining room- you just need to know that you can always - a should always!- send food back that you aren't happy with) We ate once there on the Explorer (and really- not to go as a meal- but because we wanted shakes- which were VERY good. But we decided to try their burgers anyway) and that was plenty! We never ventured back. (The onion rings were good- but then, they generally are anywhere you get them) For those upset about this, I'll reiterate that the original Cruise News article (Bill123, you need to read this and then apologize to me for misrepresentation. You're wrong about me, bucko!) stated that all C&A members (most of the complainers in this thread, I think) do get a coupon for a free meal. (Someone else posted that C&A members weren't charged, period. That's odd. btw- if you ever cruised on RCCL, you're a C&A member) Burgers are burgers, and fast food is fast food. Would everyone be as emotional about this if it was a McDonald's (or maybe more accurately a Wendys) aboard? JR=McDonald's with dancers & singers, period. Gee, they never even performed for us! btw- we ate at a JR's in Reno (inside the casino, no less!) and it was about the same experience there (although they did sing and dance): burgers that were so-so, and everything else only ok. I think the total bill was about $20 for two. (and that was a light lunch) Cheers, Paul Latin phrase to live by: "Illegitimis nil carborundum" "Paul Krause" wrote in message news I can go to JR locally any time.
