Area around Kingsway/Main/Broadway in Vancouver
I am visiting Vancouver for a few days and am trying to book a hotel on
Kingsway (close to Main/Broadway). I wanted to get to know how the neighbourhood is. I have heard some neighbourhoods having problems with prostitution/drugs etc. Can any locals please comment. |

Stayed at the Best Western in that locality for a couple of nights a few months ago. A good hotel, area a little seedy but it didn't feel unsafe. Regards David Bennetts Australia |

The Biltmore Hotel at 12 Ave and Kingsway is your best and closest bet. Broadway and Main is an older part of the city but by no means the worst. I do not recommend anything North of Broadway (9th Ave). Kingsway is an angled Street and ends at 7th and Main. The Ramada and a Holiday Inn are on Broadway about 8 blocks West of Main, near the General Hospital. Transit is good on Broadway. Things get better as you go West in Vancouver. The dividing point between East and West addresses is a block West of Main. When travelling North/South on the named streets in Vancouver the crossing Avenue number can be determined by subtracting 15 from the first two numbers in the Street address. Welcome to town. |
