At Earls Court you'd need to use an escalator. Change at Barons Court
instead, where all you have to do is cross the platform. Last time I did this I asked staff and they suggested Hammersmith, where it is also just a walk straight across the platform to the other line. |

Hard at Earl's Court. Much easier at Hammersmith -just walk across to
the other side of the same platform. PJW On Mon, 04 Apr 2005 10:27:02 +0300, Markku Ilmanen wrote: I'm traveling from Heathrow to Paddington and the obvious choice is of course the Heathrow Express. As London is robbing my money already for everything else ;-) I thought of using the tube instead. I am buying a travelcard anyway so this trip would cause no extra expenses. The only problem is that I have to transfer from Piccadilly line to District. How hard is this to do at Earls Court, considering carrying a suitcase or two and taking care of two kids (well, the Mrs will help...). A long time since I was there and can't quite remember the station! No problem with walking, just how are the stairs (escalator?) and will it be very crowded at early afternoon (end June this will be)? Or is it easier to change at Acton Town or Hammersmith? Or just waste an extra 40 pounds for the comfort of the epress? |

And if it is, is it really the best card for your needs? |

A one way trip from zone 2 to Heathrow is only £2.30 (IIRC). Negligible considering the cost of a stay in London. -- --- DFM - http://www.deepfriedmars.com --- -- |

It has the minor advantage over Acton that the Piccadilly Line trains run fast between the two stations, while the District Line observes all stops. It has the much greater advanatge over Earls Court that, as Patrick says, interchange is on the other side of the platform at Hammersmith, whereas at Earls Court the Piccadilly Line has dived into deep tube, and an escalator connection is needed between lines.
