Ponta Delgado, Azores
Any ideas for people who prefer independent excursions rather than
ship-sponsored tours for this port? |

I walked into town, which was a really nice place to shop, eat, and sip java in a cafe. The town was filled with young folks from all over Europe, and I struck up quite a few cool conversations. I remember that prices (of food & drink) at the time seemed very reasonable by European standards. Howie |

Make sure you pick up some Azorean wine....I wish I bought more than one
bottle. It was a white wine (couldn't tell you the name) but it was quite good, and cheap! There is a store downtown somewhere in a small "mall" that sells all sorts of local products. Any reasonable guide to the Azores should mention it I would think. I remember seeing something on it before we left on the cruise and we made a point of going to that store...well worth the trip.
