Default fuel surcharges

Evening All,

I responded to a post about Windstar's fuel surcharge, in which I commented
that I thought it strange that they would institute the highest per diem
charge considering it was an operation with sailing vessels. In short order
it was pointed out to me that it was not the highest. I came back with the
question; which line has the highest? To date I have not seen an answer, so
I ask again, which line has the highest per diem fuel surcharge?

Paul

Go to Google Groups and search on fuel and or surcharges and that
should tell you, at least among the press releases here. Narrow it down
to maybe the last week or so, shouldn't be too hard if you are more
interested in this than I obviously am.

It is not so much that I am interested, but when I was challenged on my
statement that Windstar had the highest per diem charge, I asked who did.
Neither of the two who corrected me came back with an answer. Hence my post
tonight.

In other words he is just stirring the pot. The actual information is not
what he wants. He is looking to make someone look bad.

I don't know if it is the highest but Silversea has added a $10 a day
per person surcharge.

Also of interest one cruise line has not yet added a surcharge. Disney.

I don't know the highest but this is the most I have seen:
Silversea Cruises became the latest operator to institute a fuel surcharge.
Effective today, for all new 2008 bookings, a fee of $10 per person, per
day, will be added

The smaller lines like Windstar, Oceania, and Silversea which is
charging the highest that I have been able to find so far, are saying
their surcharges are higher because they are charged higher prices
since they don't purchase as much fuel.

Not sure I believe that though because fuel is purchased on the spot
market based on the price the date of purchase. And that the highest
priced cruise line seems to be charging the highest surcharge is
suspicious. Seems to be based more on what they think they can get away
with.

In my day it was called COST OF DOING BUSINESS and was the Business'
responsibility. Now I guess the IN term is Surcharge or Rape The Customer.

Default fuel surcharges

This was all I could readily find

NCL
$7 Per Day For First Two Guests
$3 Per Day For Additional Guests

RCCL
$5 Per Day For First Two Guests
$70 Maximum

Carniaval
$5 Per Day For First Two Guests

Silversea
$10 Per Day For ALL Guests

Windstar
$8.50 Per Day For ALL Guests

Regent Seven Seas
$7.50 Per Day For ALL Guests

As for Disney, they generally charge 40% higher than most cruise lines so
they have a built in fuel surcharge, Mickey surcharge, Donald surcharge,
Goofey surcharge, and a dozen or so other surcharges.
