This site lists the following as disappearing:

-- bell boys announcing that the dining room is open, and operating
elevators

HAL still has the bell boys (Yum Yum Boys) to announce that the
dining room is open with their Ding Dongs.

HAL not only has a crew member announce dinner with the bells, on our
cruise last year, the excursion staff gave excellent non-shopping port
lecctures.

The Maitre D no longer makes caesar salad at your dining table. Not sure
if this practice continues on the upscale lines, as I have only sailed
on the mass market ships.

Missing from the last RCCL cruise to this one (we went on the Solstice
last year)
1). No chocolates on the pillow
2). No 2-1 drink coupon in the C&A book
3). No 2-1 cover at Johnny Rockets (just 2-1 milkshakes) in the C%A
book
4). The capt's talk on the last day (This was especially missed
from my standpoint)
5). That little newspaper-like object they used to print. Easier to
get updates than wading through 45 minutes of CNN-Int'l.

Couple other things I forget about. But I'll add them (if) they
return.

Not the Maitre D but the waiter does make caesar salad at your table
in the Pinnacle Grill on HAL ships.

Exercise reward: "T" shirts, hats, bath robes, sweaters, socks,sweat
shirts, etc?

Nightly midnight buffets?

Nightly pillow chocolates on all lines?

Room gifts on all lines?


Real prizes for quizzes and contests?

BUT also:

No TV in Cabins

No balconies except for some suites

No safes in Cabins

No Refrigerators in cabins

Have never sailed on HAL.

We ha the nightly chocolates on our last cruise (Jan 2010) on
Celebrity. Also have had them on HAL

Still have them on Celebrity an HAL

BUT also:

No TV in Cabins

Never had a cabin without a TV

No safes in Cabins

Never had a cabin without a safe

No Refrigerators in cabins

I've had refrigerators on Celebrity and NCL but never had one on HAL
