It doesn't take a university degree to realise that BAA staff are not
endowed with logic. There are other airports out there who will be
getting the BAA business.

Except that they wont.

Whatever the cost, every airline wants to fly to LHR and nothing will
persuade them otherwise.

If the strike goes ahead airlines like BA might try and switch a few
long haul flights to LGW if they can get the capacity. I've heard BHX
and MAN being talked about as well. But again, capacity will be
limited.

I assumed that he meant the business would transfer "forever".

Of course, some planes are going to be diverted during the strike. But
after it is over they will ALL move back.

get real. Thanks for ruining yet another family holiday weekend. All
BAA Airports likely to be closed, including Heathrow. What total
b'stards BAA workers and the scabby union Unite are. They don't give a
toss for families or school kids trying to get away for a few days.

Maybe BAA if paid a decent wage, you wouldn't get industrial action? Got that, moron?

Does any employer truly pay a decent wage these days?

A matter of opinion. BAA jobs carry certain privileges

Such as?

Pension..sick pay and employment? :-)

I'm really struggling to understand what perks the company could possible
offer that would merit staff accepting lower than average salaries for any
given skill level

A good steady job comes to mind Tim..we all have to tighten our belts.

The best perk anyone can get is a job... IMHO

And BAA in the sticks? What of them Tim?

Personally I think BAA airports in some
parts of the UK are overstaffed.

this would be why there are long queues at security checks, is it?

Every airport has long queues at some time or another. My worst
experience was non-BAA Birmingham..

Overstaffed in duty free, understaffed where it might actually help
the passenger. It's a fair comment.

Under-qualified in duty-free..why do they ask for a boarding card to
purchase a small bottle of Cola?

I reckon BAA should voluntarily sell more airports if only to lessen
the risks of block industrial action.

Of course, some planes are going to be diverted during the strike. But
after it is over they will ALL move back.

Some diverted to really close non BAA airports..LGW and PIK for
instance..might decide to move permanently.?

Because it's VAT free...
