Holland America Sails Scandinavian Fjords With New Ship, Icelandic And
Arctic Itineraries

Seattle
The warm, inviting cities of Scandinavia and the striking, magnificent
fjords of northern Europe provide a unique “double feature” for eight
Holland America voyages to Scandinavia in the summer of 2004. Three
of the company’s five-star ships – ms Westerdam the newest fleet
member, ms Prinsendam and ms Noordam sail deep into the fascinating
fjords of Norway, and explore the waters of Iceland, the Baltic Sea,
Ireland and the northern islands of the United Kingdom on unique
itineraries emphasizing the local scenery, culture and attractions.

Headlining the Northern European summer schedule is the ms Westerdam,
Holland America Line’s 13th ship, featuring many new elements of the
premium line’s multi-million dollar Signature of Excellence
initiative. Voyages aboard the ms Westerdam, ms Noordam and ms
Prinsendam combine Holland America Line’s gracious service with
itineraries that showcase Norway and her famous fjords as well as
Ireland, Scotland, England, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, The Netherlands,
Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Germany, Denmark, and Russia.

“For a truly memorable cruising experience we invite travelers to
explore the majestic fjords and most exotic ports in Northern Europe
from our luxurious ships,” said David A. Giersdorf, executive vice
president, marketing and sales. “The scenery in the land of the
midnight sun is truly striking and the service and accommodations
aboard a Holland America ship are unmatched.”

Westerdam Explores the Norwegian Coast and Fjords

The 1,848-passenger Vista-class ship Westerdam will sail four 12-day
fjord journeys on June 12 and 24, and July 6 and 18, 2004 between the
homeports of Harwich (London), England and Copenhagen, Denmark.

The first voyage on June 12 offers the most in depth Scandinavian
exploration, sailing deep into the heart of five magnificent Norwegian
fjords including Geirangerfjord near the incredible 5,000-foot Seven
Sisters waterfall, Trondheimsfjord, Sognefjord, Aurlandsfjord, and
Lysefjord near the amazing 2,100-foot Pulpit Rock. This sailing also
crosses the Arctic Circle twice and stops at several charming and
historic towns in Norway and Denmark along the way.

Prinsendam, the “Elegant Explorer” on Three 14-day Fjord Cruises

The exclusive 793-passenger ms Prinsendam offers three fascinating
journeys of 14 days each in northern waters.

On June 28 and August 23, the ship departs Amsterdam, crosses the
North Sea Canal and spends a week touring striking Aurlandsfjord,
Sognefjord and Lysefjord, with calls at the Norwegian villages of Vik,
Flam and Stavanger. The voyage then enters the Baltic Sea for a
two-day visit to St. Petersburg, Russia as well as visits to the
archipelagos and ports of Helskinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden
before disembarking in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“Ireland and Ice” is the theme of Prinsendam’s 14-day voyage departing
Amsterdam on July 26. After an English Channel transit and a call to
Dover, England for London shore tours, the ship crosses the Celtic Sea
for stops at Dunmore East (Waterford), Ireland and Belfast, Northern
Ireland. A call at the friendly village of Stornoway in the Hebrides
Islands is followed by a visit to Iceland for tours of the
astoundingly beautiful Isafjord and Eyjafjord and visits to Reykjavik
and Akureyri. A day at sea leads to a rare visit to tiny Lerwick in
the Shetland Islands, as well as a day of touring Lysefjord and Pulpit
Rock in Norway on the way to final port calls at Stavanger, Norway;
Skagen and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Shorter Fjord Cruise on Noordam

On June 12, a 10-day Scandinavian cruise aboard the classic
1,214-passenger ms Noordam embarks from Dover (London) bound for
Copenhagen and calling at the charming Norwegian towns of Bergen, Vik,
Flam and Stavanger, with sailings deep into the Sogneford and
Lysefjord.

Cruise-only fares for the Noordam start at US$1,449 [CAN$2,099];
Westerdam voyages start at US$1,649 [CAN$2,389]; and Prinsendam
sailings begin at US$1,999 [CAN$2,899]. All prices are listed per
person, double-occupancy and taxes are additional. Special airfares
are available from numerous North American gateways and pre- or
post-cruise hotels and packages can also be purchased through the
line. For more information contact a professional travel agent.
