As I post anonymously, how does that work?

Why would you dignify Grunge with a reply? Most of us relegated
him/her/it to our "kill" files long ago!

Yeah. I am sure we are interested in reading a trip report when the OP
has to ask if it is worth his effort to post it.

I think that's sarcastic, so you're saying your disinterested *because*
he asked? That's a guess...

Heaven forbid he go to all the wok of typing up a document to cut and
past into a post here.

Why should he write it if no one cares? Right me three pages of
rationale: I might read it.

If it's such a bother to give one click, then don't bother.

For once, if have to agree with Runge, Tim.
Just post the report if you like to publish it, don't have us beg for
it first.

It isn't "just one click"

It's the four hours it will take me to type it up.

I don't type it for my own sake,

I do. It's partly for my own personal amusement and partly to exercise
my English usage.

I do it if I have somewhere to post that
others will read it and find useful/interesting.

I used to be a regular contributor to tripadvisor and over time
noticed that what it really provides is a platform of self expression.

I'm not asking you to beg, I just need an idea how many people are still
here

Bear in mind that the number of us here is not the same as the number
of us that will read it. For one thing, I don't think you've told us
where your trip was. If it's a place I have no interest in, I might
not read it.

And whether I might read it also has to do with its length. If it's
very long (four hours of typing makes it sound very long), I probably
wouldn't, unless it looks really terrific. Other factors are how well
you write, and what are the things you write about in the place. And
if you write about a place that I know, and I start reading it and
find that I disagree with most of your opinions about it, I'd probably
stop quickly.

Well I'm not very good at writing so it takes me a long time to get it right
as I amend it several times to get something good enough to publish (even on
a news group).

And even then, it may not be written well enough for you to "like" it :-(

I didn't almost flunk "English" for no reason :-) (that's an English exam in
my first language, not a second one!)

I used to be a regular contributor to tripadvisor and over time
noticed that what it really provides is a platform of self expression.
A great many (people... obviously) just want to spit out what matters
to them in the here and now. This is evident by the number of posts
with very similar headings, on the same page, or reviews which simply
seem to be giving the same facts that the previous reviewer had given.
On the, 'how many read my reviews' count, the answer is 'not many'. I
had emails informing me of how many had *read certain reviews.
Sometimes the figure might be as high as "more than 100" occasionally
"more than 10". A figure of "9" was once given, whilst on other
occasions no figure was given at all.
* "read" actually means the number of times a page on which the review
is placed has been viewed)
