D day 60 years
This is the 60th anniversary of the D day landings in Normandy in 1944. From
March to september there will be comemoration ceremonies at various places in Normandy. Notto mention the big ceremony at Arromanche on the 6th june. This is an occasion not to miss. But Normandy has more to offer than the landing beaches. Bayeux tapestry ( a 20 ft long embroidery of the conquest of England by William in 1066) Mont St Michel (a 3 story monastry on top of a point of rock in a bay) Rouen (where Joan of arc was burnt at the stake) Caen (The capital of Williams Normandy where he built his chateau) Giverny (Monets house) Honfleur ( a 16th century port which has kept it's 16th century charm) Falaise - Chateau Gaillard - Jumiège - Villedieu les poeles - Caudebec en Caux http://www.cpmac.com/ang/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=1 |
