Gunlom and Barramundi waterfalls, Kakadu
Can anyone tell me what kind of shape the access roads are to both
Gunlom and Barramundi falls? I went up to Gunlom years ago and it was a mean track back then, but what it's like now I don't know - I read somehwhere or other that it's a decent gravel track these days, but that could mean anything. The reason I ask is that I'll be travelling to the area later this year in a hire car with my family, and I obviously can't take the vehicle bashing along tracks that might damage it. Any advice greatly appreciated. Tim |

Any advice greatly appreciated. Tim We went in july 2004 to Gunlom falls with 4WD. The track was as you expect of a gravel road, sometimes like a washboard. Keep your speed on the 'washboard' about 50/60 km/per hr. The shockabsorbers/wheels will be in resonance so that your vehicle goes 'smoothly' over it. Or try to find out the correct speed and don't be afraid on the gravel but take care at curves and water on the road (ditches). Chris |
