Double consonants are also "longer"; "tt" sounds different than
"t", but you've pretty much got to be a Finn to hear the
difference.

In Estonian edge of an ice shield is spelled jäääärve. I like it.

I suppose with Estonian and Polish, you can get a whole alphabet together.


I have a Polish friend who's surname is Hrycyszyn. With a spectacular
nine consonants and zero vowels.

He pronounces it "Richardson".

which is remarkably close to what my 2-year-old calls his den (Höle).
