Actually, Ben, I am very bored with the sameness of ships and lines. And
I have expressed this on rtc on a number of prior occasions. For me,
cruising never was a matter of r&r. Ennui is something that I've lived
with all my life. For a number of years, cruising was a solution; but
if it starts adding to the problem, it's over.

Ocean voyage holds a fascination for the imagination. Over the years,
this form of travel and lifestyle inspired poets, writers, and artists
moreso than any other. Train travel would be second. I am concerned with
how much it is the same on major lines in the seeming attempt to become
much like land resort chains.

If you are now bored with the current product a change of pace is in
order for you and Eileen. I wish you well in finding something
satisfying for the two of you.

Ben S.

Any particular reason why you are taking at least 6 months off?

At lest two. 1. Got to tech those classes from Sept. to Mid December.
2. Eileen is really having some physical problems that seem to get worse
with each new cruise.

And,

when you resume cruising will it be on the usual lines or something
new for you?

I really don't know. Assuming that Eileen starts feeling better, we are
always looking for something different in the way of cruising; but there
are restraints. In our case, those retraints are based less on
finances than on what we enjoy and are able to do.

It certainly does, Ben. But after 46 Voyages on a large variety of
ships and itineraries, and sometimes in accomodations that most people
can only dream about, much of the fascination is gone. I can't speak
for Eileen on this, but I have become really jaded.

Train travel would be second.

First class train travel can be a wonderful way to get from one place to
another, but it is much too sedentary for me. We've had a first class
sleeper compartment on the Train Bleu from Paris to Nice. It was a
wonderful experience, but paled by comparison to travel on a ship.

I am concerned with
how much it is the same on major lines in the seeming attempt to become
much like land resort chains.

I know you are; and I agree.

Thanks Ben. For now, Eileen has no interest in another cruise.
Something about these ships seems to greatly exascerbate her health
problems. Perhaps it's the chemicals they use to keep things clean, or
something else; but something is causing her to have real problems on
ships that she does not have at home. Even if this were not the case,
we would be ready for something different.

So sorry to hear Eileen was not well on this trip. Hope by now she is
feeling better

Thanks Sunny.

SUNNY.........it sounds as though you really liked the Miracle, I mean
REALLY liked it

I really liked the food; and I really liked the way Carnival has tried
some different innovations on the ship. In addition to those I
mentioned in my review there we

Large screen movies during the day in the main theatre (didn't see any).
Two deck parties, including a 70's music party on the aft deck of the
ship.

It was our first cruise out of New York City.

Howie,

First please tell Eileen that I am sorry she was sick and hope she is
feeling better very soon.

Thanks Sue.

I was surprised to read that this was your 1st cruise out of NYC. Once

It is odd, given how many cruises we've been on, hoe much we like our
native City, and the fact that we are only a 2 1/2 hour drive away.

you get past the traffic and onto the ship, it is a wonderful port to
sail out of. Can you tell I am a New Yorker, even if I live in NJ...LOL

It sure is a wonderful port to sail from.
