"Trip Assured" Update
Trip Assured, Inc., located in Crossville, TN, has been written about
multiple times on these boards, mostly in a negative manner. Here's some recent news about the company. As of today, 9/9/06, Four states, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan and Tennessee (Trip Assured's home state) have issued "Cease and Desist" orders against the company for being an unlicensed insurance company. The same type of restriction is being considered in several other states. Several prominent travel publications, including Traveltrade and Travel Weekly have featured the company prominently (and negatively) in recent issues. The Tennessean, Nashville's most influential paper, has carried a series of stories about the company as well. Much more information is available on Google and Yahoo. Before you buy any travel insurance product, check with your state to be sure that the company is licensed to sell insurance in your state, and check with your agent to determine whether he's licensed to sell an insurance product. If the answer to either question is "no", walk away from the deal quickly, and look somewhere else. |

That is good to know...Best Price Cruises uses them or perhaps now I better say, did use them as their insurance company. We took that coverage twice and it is a good thing that we did not have to file a claim either time... --Jean |
