Wife and heading there in mid-April. Big food and wine types and like
luxury, old hotel bar, kind of digs. Any wilderness or sightseeing has
to be done in a comfortable luxe kind of way; we're not back-packers
or bungee jumpers and I know many will say that means the area is
going to be lost on us. But if there are any suggestions ... Where do
we stay? In town? A resort? Eat?

This is the ultimate tourist spot in NZ. You can take the jet boat or book
other tours from the agency. If you want to do Milford Sound, would suggest
you go to Te Anau. I found Queenston a place for kids myself. I loved Te
Anau though. You can stay in Queenston then go to Te Anau. Te Anau has a
nice lake.
I was in NZ for Christmas of 2000. Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington,
Christchurch, Queenston, Te Anau, Dunedin
and the Catlins.
You can email me at if you wish.
