Your travel insurance (a VERY good idea, these days) probably has a physician referral component. Wherever you are look for a "Farmacia Internazionale"; they almost always have a multilingual Doc on call. In smaller places the pharmacist is your best friend he/she often speaks several languages and is competent to deal with everyday medical matters. Happy Travels...Good Health. bill |

Many thanks Les American Express has a referral service for American travelers abroad (and in the U.S.). (Although it's connected to their travel insurance company, I think anyone traveling overseas can use it, at least if they have an Amex credit card.) Failing that, surely the American (or British) embassies might be able to help. I suspect most hotels have a list of doctors who speak the major languages of their guests, also. |

Many thanks Les The International Association for Medical Assistance to Travellers (IAMAT) - www.iamat.org - can provide that information. They also provide a great deal of other useful information and services to their members (membership is free). GG |

Just went to "Pronto Socorro (sp?)" (First Response) and the lady doctor spoke enough English to help me. The visit, including the pain killer shot was free. All the Pronto Socorro are free, just costs if you have to go upstairs to the regular hospital. |
