What the hell are you talking about, Tom?

I took your comments about hearing from someone third party and reporting
them here without ever having been on the ship as my reporting comments from
Linda.

If you weren't talking about me, then I apologize.

But I thought the third party comments about crowding on a ship from someone
who had never even been on the ship was in reference to me. If not... then
I'm sorry.

The only comment about Linda's review I made was about the
people buying art sight-unseen. I believe you and she that
this happened.

The only comment I made was about people who would
do it.

Tom, I wasn't thinking of you in regard to ship crowding.

I apologize if I appeared to mock Linda's comments. You typing
for her seems to be pretty much first hand to me.

Really, Lindqui$t? Oh my, what a surprise.

Wow, THAT is clever.

So, now you think spending $90 on art, sight unseen, is
a good idea?

Genius.

Well, you may be (unintentionally) right about one thing. ;-)

But seriously, all "digs" aside, if someone who attends an art auction wants to
take that gamble—and that is what it is—how is that different from buying
Lotto tickets or pulling levers in a casino? If they like what is offered
generally in the auctions and they want to "play," then it doesn't harm you or
me. And maybe that $90 gamble won't cost them anymore than if they had spent
the same amount of time playing blackjack. They can lose or win either way.
Maybe they consider it entertainment. As for being "a good idea," no, I don't
think so, but my issue with your comment was that it was so extremely
condescending and mean-spirited and I had probably just finished reading a post
of yours where you once again insulted me, and well, turn-about did seem like
fair play at the time.

I am on record as having stated that I dislike all these art auctions, but
that's in part because the stuff spills out to other areas of the ship in the
same way as the gold by the inch spills out of the shops and into the lobbies.
I like the description that was emailed to me once by someone who called the
art auction areas and related in-your-face junk tables as "crap corrals." I
agree with that.

If these areas remained contained (junk jewelry stayed in the shops, art
auctions stayed in one designated room just for the art, and was not brought
into general public lounges or on display in public hallways), I wouldn't mind
them being there (as much) on the mass market lines as an option for folks who
enjoy either or both.

Now we can either discuss cruise-related topics with each other as folks do
here on RTC or we can choose to disregard each other's posts. I'm fine either
way.
