Probe finds air marshals at risk
A two-year investigation found that Federal Air Marshal Service
policies undermine marshals' anonymity, and it indicates terror groups
have done reconnaissance of in-flight security, says a congressional
report obtained by The Washington Times.

While Big Bird and the crew from "Sesame Street" might be slightly more
recognizable emplaning and deplaning, the Air Marshals stick out like sore
thumbs (a combination of dress & grooming codes - matched with age
parameters, boarding priority, seat selection, and a "Just the way they
look" factors combining for a high level of recognition). Sure I may
believe I guy who isn't is, but odds are that most frequent travelers would
usually select the actual air marshals (along with a couple of innocent
doofuses who simply chose to look like'em).

They had to do a probe to find that out. It should have been a foregone
conclusion from the start and planned for.

Air Marshals Do Not Stick-Out Like Sore Thumbs:

10. Memo: "wear coats 'n ties with shined-shoes as anybody else
vacationing in the Bahamas would do."
9. You're packing heat, and thus enter over there at the side, Sir,
where air cops are supposed to. .
8. "This seat here in the front is often for an undercover guard & no
smoking is allowed, Mam"
7. "Your gazillion points aren't worth anything--so why worry, Mr.
Agent--few promotional seats are available anyhow on customarily
crowded flights even as if those fake points really mattered."
6.--1. Be paranoid and hava nice flight.

A rather bizarre article. For example, it reports this:

"The report does not mention other similar incidents or the highly
publicized Northwest Flight 327 incident in 2004 when 14 Syrians, who said
they were musicians, frightened the passengers and crew with behavior later
described by numerous marshals and airline pilots as a probe or trial run.'

In fact, the 14 Syrians WERE musicians, and it was determined beyond doubt
that it was NOT a probe or trial run but, rather, an hysterical reporter who
did not realize what she was witnessing on board but, nonetheless, wrote a
ridiculous article on the incident.
