A little fun with Chapter 11
Let's have a little bit of fun here...Let's say, god forbid, but it
looks more and more likely daily, that United Airlines fails to emerge from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and goes out of business. Obviously, no airline is going to be able to take over United's entire route network, simply because they are just too big...so let's take each of the nation's other five major airlines (American, Delta, Northwest, Continental, and US Airways) and give each of them one (and only one) of United's old hubs. Which hub would make the most sense to go to which airline...example, and what I would say IAD: Delta-increases and consolidates their scattered presence in the Northeast ORD: US Airways-enables them to have more convenient connections to the West DEN: Continental-gives them a greater presence in the western US SFO: Northwest-Perfect compliment for Northwest's strong Asian presence LAX: American-Hooks in perfectly with their American Eagle hub out there Just a little fun, a little food for thought... |
