Default 17 yr old jailed after holiday flirt in Turkey

Alfred Molon:
In article , Erick T.
Barkhuis says...

Hmmm... what if both the boy and the girl were 13 and had sex? Who would
be arrested?

Would any of them file charges?

The parents might do so.

Why would they? Their child is as "guilty" as the other parents' child.

What would happen in such a case?

I'm not a lawyer, but I assume that the case would be dismissed if no
rape or assault can be proven. Perhaps some psychologist is going to
write a report, and tell the kids to "not do that anymore!"

He may tell'em with a smile on his face, though.

Rejection of Turkey's application is not racially motivated, it's
simply because Turkey does not meet basic standards of respect for
human rights and international law.
Like Bulgaria?
Confucius, he say "two rong not make a right".
Taiwan hasn't applied for EU membership - yet,
Just a matter of time - after all, Israel are in the Eurovision Song
Contest.

North African countries, Jordan and the Lebanon are eligible to apply
too.

Why EU? let's call it Roman Empire.

Are you going to kick out the Scots and Scandinavians?

I was thinking the same thing!

I tried to thought of east European countries but I am not certain which ones
the Roman's conquered. I take it Rumania was part of the Roman Empire but
Hungary probabl;y wasn't.

There is a map herehttp://www.yukoncollege.yk.ca/~agraham/nost202/module3/cphistory/grap...

Let's call it the Evil Empire?

Allright, and Dart Vader as emperor.

Scotland would finally split from Britannia, they would be eternally

Are you kidding? I would have seen this queue in the airports of
Istanbul, Izmir or Antalya. As a German you do not need a visa, only
your identiy card or your passport, and Germany is in the same EU as
Great Britain.

And what difference does the EU make?

they have failed to take account of the difference between two young
people having some sort of sexual contact and an older person and a
young person, which is what is frowned on most in modern systems.

A Muslim state? Surely Turkey is a secular state? :-)

But more Muslim than it was in the 1920's! (When Turkey
gave women the vote even before the U.S. did.)

maybe EU should outlaw "established" churches.

I do not know when youths enter the age of discretion (Strafmündigkeit) in
Turkey. In Germany it would be 14 years, so both offenders could not be
prosecuted.

Perhaps this page might help a bit: http://piology.org/dtl/recht.html

The legal age of consent is 18 in Turkey, so it is irrelevant that the girl
claimed to be 15. In Germany the boy could save himself with this.

But never mind what happened: it is just a bit too much to put a 17-year-old
boy into jail if the girl still is a virgin!

Frowned up on? People have proposed chemical castration.

Hope I am not too curious: how old were you when you kissed or caressed a
girl for the first time?
