I think auto travel will end in all cities around the world,
especially in Europe and in Jerusalem, Israel.

Beautiful.

In two sentences you've managed to very accurately display
so much about yourself. Quality of education, knowledge of
world affairs, statistical "accuracy", morality values and
humanitarian values.

Superbly done.

One hopes you are not representative of your compatriots.
Unfortunately, the evidence shows otherwise.

Our mob are also yet to sign - but will meet most of the
protocol's recommendations; as 1% of world output it's a
little less critical. To be honest, China and South and East
Asia are more of a worry; pollution and warming are much
less important to them than catching up with (and eventually
passing) the US industrial capacity.

Cheers, Alan, Australia

You are right Alan! With the US as greatest 'polluter' at this moment,
we should worry about China and India too! But what most worries me is
that the US is blind for this problem and refuses to sign the Kyoto
Protocol!

Piggy is historically not knowledgeable about anything at all, this time
he keeps up his tradition.

The key figure measuring emissions is the GDP generated vs emissions.
You burn a ton of fuel, what does it produce economically?

If one has a relatively high GDP and low emissions the ratio is high.
The ratio is aslo a measure of energy efficiency with regard to
CO2 emissions.

The following site
http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of...-to-carbon-dio
xide-emissions

gives a "List of countries by ratio of GDP to carbon dioxide emissions"

Switzerland stands at the head of the "class" with a ratio of
9.4, which is thousands of dollars per metric ton of CO2 emissions.

Semisocialist Sweden stands second with a figure of 7.4. France is 4th
with a figure of 5.9. Its situation may be special because of a high
use of nuclear power. Generally the European countries stand high on the
list, in the first 20. Certain poor countries in the tropics have low
GDP and low emissions so this figure is not particularly meaningful
as one examines those countries not part of the modern industrialized
societies.

The US lies 39th on this list with a figure of 2.1, meaning that
the US is energy inefficient by a factor of 2-4 times less than
with the best scores. The world's average is 1.8 and China has a
low low figure of 0.5.

An the US is contributing to glabal warming disproportionately.

So how come California, one of the richest states, uses so much less
electricity both per person and per unit of GDP?

Jim.
