At SeaTac Airport, there is a series of display cases along an Alaska
Airlines terminal, outlining parts of the company's history. In one
case is a timetable that notes destinations of the airlines, including
Tokyo and Paris. Can anyone explain this little bit of history?

They did fly to NE Russia
for a short while prior or until 1997-98.

I know Alaska were expecting to be granted route authorities for
long haul International service in the late 60's by the C.A.B. as they
ordered a 747 from Boeing in 1968/69 specifically for the long haul
routes.
It's possible they may have been jumping the gun a tad by "advertising"
in a timetable, but the CAB denied their applications anyway.

I think they ran charters to those destinations in the summertime during the
pre-Open Skies, pre-deregulation days.
