Default NJ suburb to JFK

This may sound petty. What is the best way to JFK from NJ suburb for
a family of four travelling? Looks like the flight out of JFK is
cheaper than Newark. We'll be going two to three weekd in August. At
$10 a day, or is $11? long term parking will be steep.

I am thinking to take the commuter bus to Port Authorit Bus Terminal
and take the subway. Don't know how much cheaper it will be.

OK, do your sums carefully. How much will you save by travelling from JFK
as opposed to EWR? What ages are your family members, and what will the
consequences of using public transportation, presumably with plenty of
luggage, be as opposed to a short cab or limo ride to EWR?

Cheaper than what? Tell us where you live (approximately, at least the town
or ZIP) and we can tell you how much it's going to cost.

Your journey is going to involve (from
http://www.panynj.gov/airtrain/index.html)

- NJ Transit to NYC Penn Station
- LIRR from Penn to Jamaica
- AirTrain from Jamaica to JFK

You'll have to buy separate tickets for different parts of your journey, and
schlep bags up and down between platforms, etc.

Do you really want all that grief with kids?

I think a shared-ride service is the best for you - see
http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/jgtsfram.htm and scroll down to "between JFK
and the suburbs".

On second thought, driving to the airport and long erm park there may
be the same price as hiring a limo. Either way it is less hassle than
public transportation.
