Carry-on and secondary screening

I put all such in a leather shoulder bag of about 6" x 9" x 3", in
addition to my cell phone, coins, over 1 lb of 24K gold jewelry, and

picked for further inspection except a time or two I had a magnifying
glass in it whose handle and frame looked like a handgun. :-)


There's no metal in it, but it would sure feel suspicious
on pat-down. Will this finger me for more intensive screening, even
though it's innocuous? Or should I risk all by putting it in my
carry-on or in the small tray?
What do you mean by "risk all"?
